Alcott School Programs

Concord Recreation is excited to be working with the Alcott Elementary School PTG and Administration to now oversee the before and after class recreation programs! These classes are available to Alcott students, only.

Morning String Orchestra

The String Orchestra before school program is for students who have been studying basic skills since September and can play the first three notes on the D string by January. The program is suitable for 4th-year beginner students or second-year + players (5th graders). Join to further develop your ensemble playing skills on your string instrument. This is an extra enrichment class that is meant to augment your child's ensemble skills and introduce them to their first ensemble experience or add to the existing orchestra class. This class is not meant to replace group skills classes. It's fun to make music all together!

Kids Test Kitchen

Kids’ Test Kitchen is on a mission to get young eaters cooking, tasting, and thinking about healthy ingredients! Let’s continue to redefine kid food; one lesson, and one child at a time!

Lego Architects

First, our Right Brain Curriculum instructors will review the history of what we are about to build: How airports graduated from landing strips to vast travel networks, how Depression-era farms survived hordes of grasshoppers, how aeroelasticity explains why the Tacoma bridge nicknamed “Galloping Gertie” collapsed. Then, it’s time to build! You will create a model of each type of structure out of an enormous assortment of provided Legos, then present your creation as we photograph and document it. Learning and Legos: A perfect match!

Expert Architects

Form your architectural firm and start imagining the building of your dreams. Our Right Brain Curriculum instructors will guide you along the way – from the mathematical calculations every good architect must make to the history of how the elevator revolutionized Manhattan. Then you’ll be ready to build! You will consider the environment, transportation, parking, and green space as you create a working blueprint for your creation. Then you’ll bring it to life as a Lego model! You will present your work to your peers and demonstrate how your tower will be the next great building of the 21st Century. The sky’s the limit!
